Savar Model thana police submitted maiden charge-sheet in the Dhaka chief judicial magistrate court against ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina in a murder case filed over a killing during the July-August mass uprising in 2024.
One hundred and fourteen people, including Sheikh Hasina, Obaidul Quader, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Enamur Rahman, and Qamrul Islam, have been made accused in the case filed over the brutal killing of fish trader Nabi Nur Morol.
Investigation officer of the case sub-inspector Foysal Alam, in the charge-sheet, alleged that Nabi Nur Morol joined the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement rally on July 20, 2024 at Wapda Road under Savar model police station.
鈥楤eing incited by the prime accused including Sheikh Hasina, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, and Obaidul Quader, the other accused led by Enamur Rahman, Manjurul Alam Razib, and Haji Abdul Goni opened fire on the protesters using pistols, shotguns, and local weapons,鈥� the charge-sheet said.聽
鈥極ne bullet fired from the pistol of Manjurul Alam Razib hit Morol in the abdomen and came out on the other side. He was rushed to Savar Enam Medical Hospital, where he died from his injuries the next day,鈥� it read.
Morol鈥檚 widow, Aklima Begum, filed the case on September 4, 2024. Police, after more than a year of investigation, submitted the charge-sheet. 鈥業 have filed the charge-sheet against 114 accused of the case and the allegations against them were found to be true,鈥� the IO told.
The plaintiff, Aklima Begum, expressed satisfaction over the submission of the charge-sheet and demanded justice.
