Visual artist Masudur Rahman explores the concept of cosmic people in his third solo art exhibition, Wayfarers of the Shadowed Path, which began at Nook Dhaka in Banani on Friday.

The four-day exhibition features 40 paintings created with charcoal, oil, and acrylic on paper and canvas.

Curated by Farhana Nizam Chowdhury and Mahbub Shahriar, the exhibition delves into the concept of cosmic people.

Renowned artist Monirul Islam inaugurated the event, which was attended by cultural activist Shankar Shawjal, among others.

The inaugural ceremony was moderated by Farhana Nizam Chowdhury.

Rahman described his works as depicting figures of cosmic people—those who were born and will be born to continue the legacy of humanity.

‘These figures represent the ongoing cycle of life and the deep connection between humanity and the universe,’ he explained.

Monirul Islam praised Rahman’s work, calling him a ‘courageous painter’ who excels at creating expressive, intimate pieces that go beyond traditional art schools. Shawjal, too, acknowledged Rahman’s distinctive style, noting that his art, created without a brush, symbolises the roots of the earth.

Rahman, known for his evocative paintings, explores the interconnectedness of humanity and the cosmos. His artistic journey, which began with poetry, continues to influence his visual art practice.

Through his work, Rahman seeks to capture the vastness of the universe within the human experience, often using nature as a metaphor for human expression, desire, and the pursuit of dreams.

The exhibition will include a live painting session on Saturday, followed by a poetry recitation event during the closing ceremony on October 27.
