Enayet filed the case against the three arrested ones and four or five unnamed suspects.
The general recording officer for Bangshal police station, sub-inspector Tanvir Hossain, said that the three accused were produced before the courts of Dhaka metropolitan magistrates Israt Jenifar, Abdul Wahab Mia and Masum Mia, who recorded the confessional statements of Barjis, Mahir and Fardin in the evening.
He said that the courts sent the trio to jail after recording their statements.
Jobayed was stabbed to death at a building in the Armanitola area in Old Dhaka Sunday evening.
On Tuesday morning, Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s additional commissioner (crime and operations) SN Md Nazrul Islam, at a press conference at the DMP Media Centre, said that Barjis and Mahir, who had been in a romantic relationship, planned to kill Jobayed, a private tutor of Barjis, in September.
He said that Barjis, despite being in a relationship with Mahir, also developed another romantic relationship with Jobayer.
The police officer said that Barjis and Mahir planned to kill Jobayed as the JCD leader came to know about the relationship between Barjis and Mahir.
He said that Barjis, as part of the plan, informed Mahir about the time of Jobayed’s arrival in her building, and Mahir and his friend Fardin waited in the building for the victim’s arrival.
As Jobayed arrived there, a heated argument broke out, and Mahir stabbed Jobayed in the neck, which led to his death due to excessive bleeding.
The metropolitan police’s Lalbagh zone deputy commissioner Mallick Ahsan Uddin Sami said that Jobayed, after being stabbed, ran upstairs and knocked on doors seeking help, but none opened their doors.
He said that Jobayed also sought help from Barjis, but she did not help him.
Additional commissioner Nazrul said that Jobayed was a victim of a love triangle.
