Bangladesh leg-spinner Rishad Hossain can be very lethal in Test cricket, stated the spin bowling coach Mushtaq Ahmed on Sunday.聽聽

Rishad became the first right-handed spinner as well as wrist spinner to take a five-for in an ODI for Bangladesh when he registered 6-35 against the West Indies in the first ODI.聽

The 23-year-old leg spinner, who played 50 T20Is, hasn鈥檛 been a regular in the 50-over format, as it was his 12th match.聽

However, Mushtaq stated that Rishad had a very good prospect of making it into the Test level.聽

鈥100 per cent,鈥 said Mushtaq when he was asked whether he would expect Rishad to play Test cricket.聽

鈥楲ast four wickets, especially against teams like Australia and England who can bat deep, a leg-spinner who can bowl a good wrong鈥檜n with Rishad鈥檚 height and bounce can be very lethal,鈥 explained Mushtaq.聽

鈥楲ast four batsmen cannot read his wrong鈥檜n. He can be very good for Test cricket, but he has to earn that place by bowling good overs,鈥 added the former leg spinner of Pakistan.聽

Mushtaq also said that it鈥檚 imperative to have a good red-ball environment to nurture a leg spinner.聽

鈥楻ed ball cricket makes spinners and batsmen the best,鈥 said Mushtaq. 鈥楤ecause red ball cricket teaches you how to understand the situation, how to play according to the situation, reading the pitches, how to get people out, all those things.鈥

鈥榃ith good coaching, you also need a good environment with the red ball cricket,鈥 he added.聽

Mushtaq also said that Rishad was keen to play the longer version. He has so far played 21 first-class matches.聽

鈥楬e is very keen to play four-day cricket. I am trying to ask him, and he is very keen to play first-class matches because he knows that he is going to get better and better at playing red-ball cricket,鈥 said Mushtaq.聽聽

Mushtaq also credited the coaches of the lower tier for the improvement of Rishad.聽

鈥楬e bowled well. I am so happy for him, actually. He works really hard. And let me tell you, credit goes to the local coaches also. You know, sometimes we miss them. You know, we can see that only, you know, like, he鈥檚 internationally working here,鈥 said Mushtaq.聽

鈥楤ut all the coaches working underneath, I think, sometimes we have to give them credit also. And Rishad has been working hard, and credit goes to Rishad also. You know, he put lots of effort into it,鈥 he added.
