Licensed retail fertiliser sellers formed a human chain in Manikchhari upazila of Khagrachhari hill district on Monday, demanding the suspension of the nationwide license cancellation process.
The event, organised by the Manikchhari unit of the Bangladesh Fertiliser Association, took place at Amtala on the Khagrachhari鈥揅hattogram inter-district road.
The leaders of the association also submitted a petition in this regard to Manikchhari upazila nirbahi officer Tahmina Afroz Bhuiyan.
Speakers at the event said the government recently decided to suspend the licences of retail fertiliser sellers.
They warned that the move would severely affect 44,000 retail fertiliser sellers across the country and their families.
They urged the government to retain the licences of retail fertiliser sellers while increasing the number of dealers at the union level.聽
Bangladesh Fertiliser Association鈥檚 Manikchhari unit president Md Hanif, member Md Safiqul Islam, and farmer Md Kabir Hossain, among others, spoke at the event.
