The Anti-Corruption Commission will file two cases against former environment, forest and climate change minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury and his wife, Rehana Chowdhury, over allegations of amassing illegal wealth worth nearly Tk 39 crore.

The commission approved the two cases at a meeting on Thursday and the cases will be filed soon with the ACC鈥檚 integrated district office in Dhaka-1, said ACC director general (prevention) Akhtar Hossain.


The commission approved a case against Saber Hossain over allegations of amassing illegal wealth worth Tk聽12.25 crore.

Allegations also brought against Saber Hossain of suspicious transactions of Tk聽124.61 crore in his 21 bank accounts between 1989 and 2025.

The second case names both Saber Hossain and his wife, Rehana, as accused.

The ACC approved the case over allegations of amassing illegal assets worth Tk聽26.97 crore and suspicions transactions of Tk聽150 crore in Rehana鈥檚 three bank accounts between 1999 and 2025.

Meanwhile, the commission also approved a case against former assistant superintendent of police Ziaur Rahman on charges of amassing illegal wealth worth Tk聽4.2 crore.

Ziaur also allegedly concealed information of his wealth worth Tk聽1.30 crore in his wealth statement submitted to the commission.

ACC assistant director Abdul Malek will file the case against Ziaur soon, said ACC director general Akhtar Hossain.聽聽
