Southeast Bank PLC has recently launched nine agent banking outlets branded as Shagotom to facilitate people outside the formal banking system across the country, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas of Feni, Tangail, Cumilla, Noakhali, Dhaka, and Manikganj.
The main objective of the initiative is to uphold the trend of financial inclusion and expand banking services to every corner of the country, said a press release on Monday.
Southeast Bank PLC managing director (current charge) Abidur Rahman Chowdhury virtually inaugurated the formal operations of the nine agent banking outlets.
The release said that agent banking offers a comprehensive range of modern and technology-driven conventional and Tijarah (Islamic) banking services.聽
At these outlets, customers can enjoy a variety of facilities, including the opening of savings and current accounts, cash deposits and withdrawals, fund transfer facilities, and cash transfers through BEFTN (Bangladesh Electronic Funds Transfer Network) and RTGS (Real-Time Gross Settlement) to any bank account.
Other facilities include receiving foreign remittances; processing cheque books, debit聽 and credit cards, BO account opening and share transaction services, micro, medium, and agricultural (Krishi) loans with insurance benefits, utility bill payments, loan instalment collections, government allowances, regular customer loans and internet banking facilities.
Additionally, customers can access essential banking services 24/7 through recycler ATMs available at the agent banking outlets.
