Health officials on Sunday said that they recorded 953 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts killing six persons in the past 24 hours.
During the period, 141 patients were hospitalised in Barishal division, 107 in Chattogram, 197 in Dhaka division excluding the capital, 122 in Dhaka South City Corporation and 147 in Dhaka North City Corporation areas, 93 in Khulna, 46 in Mymensingh, 69 in Rajshahi, 23 in Rangpur and eight in Sylhet division, a Directorate General of Health Services statement said.
Since the start of the dengue onslaughts, Bangladesh this year witnessed so far 230 deaths while the disease inflicted 54,559.
The dengue last year claimed 575 lives and inflicted 1,01,214 people in the country.
