
Bangladesh’s promising player Obinash Raj Vor secured a direct spot in the main draw of the ITF World Tennis Tour Junior J-30, Dhaka after beating his compatriot Safwan Saame by 6-1, 6-0 sets in the boys’ singles event final of the qualifying round at the National Tennis Complex in Ramna on Sunday.
Apart from Obinash, three other international players – Chanapat Pisutharnonth of Thailand, Wei-Cheng Tang of Chinese Taipei, and Eun-Sung Cho of South Korea – qualified for the main draw.
Besides the direct qualifications, three Bangladesh players Saim, Jawad, and Malek and a Chinese player Li – earned their wildcard entries.
The new eight qualifiers will join the 24 others, who earlier earned their spots in the main draw.
A total of six Bangladeshi will compete in the main draw of the boys’ division, as Zarif Abrar and Khabbo Gayen already claimed their spots in the main draw.
In the girls' division, seven Bangladeshi players – Sumiya Akter, Sara Al Jasim, Jannatun Ferdous, Halima Jahan, Yeanna Chowdhury, Suborna Khatun, and Maliha Islam – will compete directly in the main draw from October 13 to 17.
