The police on Thursday recovered the body of a 13-year-old girl from Jagajibanpur village under Salanga upazila in Sirajganj.
The deceased is Mim, daughter of Zakaria Hossain, of the village.
Though the police claimed that it was an incident of unnatural death, the locals termed it 鈥榓 clear incident of murder鈥�.
Salanga Police Station officer-in-charge Md Humayun Kabir said that the deceased鈥檚 brother saw her lying near their house and informed the police.
He said that they immediately rushed to the spot, recovered the body and prepared an inquest report.
OC Humayun claimed that it was an incident of unnatural death as the inquest report did not suggest any sign of murder or sexual assault.
He said that they sent the body to Shaheed M Monsur Ali Medical College Hospital in Sirajganj for post-mortem examination to determine the cause of the death. He said that an unnatural death case was lodged with his police station in this connection.
Salanga thana Jamaat-e-Islami amir and local union council member Rashedul Islam alleged that the girl was killed sometime on Wednesday night.
鈥榁illagers strongly believe that this is a case of murder, but it is being labeled as an unnatural death to divert locals鈥� attention to another direction,鈥� he alleged.聽
