The police on Tuesday night arrested the manager of a women鈥檚 hostel on Indira Road in Dhaka city on charges of confining and physically and mentally abusing and a Dhaka University law student and her cousin.
At the time of her arrest, Razia Sultana was the manager of Swapnanibas Hostel.
The victim, at around 4:00am Wednesday, lodged a case with the Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police against the accused, alleging physical assault, confinement and theft.
According to the written complaint filed by victim Nafisa Tabassum Prova, a resident of the hostel, she rented a room at Swapnanibas Hostel on October 1, 2025, agreeing to pay Tk 7,500 monthly for bed and board.
The hostel, managed by Razia Sultana, also allowed guests to stay, but no prior notice was given about additional charges, she stated.
Prova said that on October 7, around 9:00pm, her cousin, Dhaka University student Saidunnesa Shapla, came to stay overnight as a guest when Razia demanded Tk 400 per night as an extra charge.
An argument ensued between Prova and Razia after which the hostel manager allegedly asked guest Saidunnesa to leave. But when the guest called her brother to pick her up, and he arrived around 10:30pm, Razia reportedly refused to let her leave.
The complaint further stated that when Prova went to speak with the hostel director about the issue, Razia, following instructions from hostel owner Sohel, struck Prova on the head with a hard-sole shoe, leaving her unconscious.聽
She also alleged that Razia physically assaulted her guest, then stole Tk 8,000 from them and also issued threats to them.
Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police聽 officer-in-charge Mohammad Imaul Haque told 抖阴精品 that being informed, a team went to the scene and brought hostel manager Razia to the police station.
She was arrested after the case had been filed and was produced before court that ordered her to be sent to jail, the OC said.
