An engineer of the Bangladesh Railway was killed in a road accident Tuesday night at Kulaura in Moulvibazar while he was returning home after a rescue operation of a derailed train at Moglabazar in Sylhet.

The deceased, Mozammel Haque, is sub-assistant engineer of Kulaura Railway Section in Moulvibazar.


Kulaura station master Md Roman Ahmed said that engineer Mozammel was returning to Kulaura on a motorcycle at about 9:00pm from Moglabazar but he lost control on the handlebars at Brahmanbazar of Kulaura and had the accident.

‘Later, local people took Mozammel to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital after rescuing him from the spot and he died Wednesday morning while undergoing treatment there,’ the station master said.

On early Tuesday, 20 passengers were injured after four compartments of Sylhet-bound intercity train Udayan Express coming from Chattogram derailed near Moglabazar Railway Station in Sylhet.
