Politicians, labour leaders and professionals on Wednesday at a condolence meeting in Dhaka said that garment labour leader Bahrine Sultan Bahar worked for establishing rights of labourers, especially the garment workers of the country.
They said that his works were not completed as rights of garment workers were not yet fulfilled and labourer right bodies should work for establishing rights of the workers, especially the garment workers of the country.
Jago Bangladesh Garments Sramik Federation organised the condolence meeting in the National Press Club to commemorate its president Bahrine Sultan Bahar who died in Dhaka on August 27 at the age of 55.
BNP chairperson’s advisory council member Abdus Salam said that Bahrine Sultan Bahar was a true labour leader who worked for establishing rights of the garment workers.
‘He was an honest labour leader so he failed to leave wealth for his family members,’ he said.
Acting president of Jago Garments Sramik Federation Gazi Mohamad Nure Alam, advisor to BNP chairperson and former student leader Habibur Rahman Habib, BNP central leader Abed Raza, labour leader Mosaddek Hossin Shapon, garment labour leaders Mohammad Mostafa, Jannat Fatema and others spoke at the condolence meeting.
