The International Crimes Tribunal-1 on Wednesday set October 12 to begin hearing the arguments in the crimes against humanity case against deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina, former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan and detained former inspector general of police Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun.

The three-member tribunal, led by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder, set the date on completion of the cross-examination of the investigation officer in the case, Mohammad Alomgir.

Alomgir is also an additional superintendent of police and testified as the 54th and last prosecution witness in the case.

Hasina, Asaduzzaman and Mamun have been facing the case for their superior command responsibility in committing atrocities across the country during the student-led mass uprising in July and August in 2024. The uprising led to the fall of the Hasina-led Awami League regime on August 5, 2024. 聽

Of the three, Hasina and Asaduzzaman are still in hiding and have been facing the trial in absentia.

Detained former IGP Mamun has become a state evidence and testified for the prosecution.

State-appointed lawyer Amir Hossain has been representing Hasina and Asaduzzaman. Detained Mamun is being defended by his own counsel.
