Chattogram Port has reported record-breaking growth in container, cargo, and ship handling during the first quarter of the financial year 2025-26.

According to a press release, issued on Tuesday, 9,27,713 TEUs of containers were handled between July and September, marking a significant 12.24 per cent increase compared to the same period last year. Cargo handling also surged to 3.29 crore metric tonnes, a 13.88 per cent growth, while 1,031 ships were serviced鈥攁 9.22 per cent rise.


The Bangladesh Navy-operated New Container Terminal at the port saw exceptional performance, handling 3,42,649 TEUs鈥攁 13.88 per cent growth鈥攁nd 178 ships, a 17.11 per cent increase from the previous year.

Over the nine-month period from January to September 2025, the port handled 25,63,450 TEUs of containers, along with 10.27 crore metric tonnes of cargo and 3,161 ships, reflecting year-on-year growth across all key performance indicators.

Port authorities attributed the success to round-the-clock guidance from the ministry of shipping and skilled leadership, reinforcing Chattogram Port鈥檚 critical role in national revenue generation and trade facilitation.
