Aminul Islam, who was re-elected as the BCB president unopposed on Monday, selected the committees while keeping three important ones within him.
According to the list given by the BCB, Aminul will head the working, grounds, and BPL committees.
Adnan Rahman Dipon will be vice-chairman for the grounds committee, while Iftekhar Rahman will be the member secretary of the BPL governing council.
The first meeting was resumed at around 12:00pm at the BCB headquarters of the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur after it had been adjourned the previous night.
Nazmul Abedeen Fahim, the vice-chairman of the previous board, retained the cricket operations, while Iftekhar retained the umpires committee.
However, the newly elected vice-president and the former president, Faruque Ahmed, wasn’t given any role in the committee.
‘Our president has the authority; in any board, the president decides where to assign people. So maybe he was given a choice, or perhaps the president wants to use him [Faruque] as vice-president in other areas,’ Iftekhar told reporters.
‘Maybe that’s why he didn’t include him in any committee. I’m not sure. But Faruque Bhai is a former captain and former president; he has a lot of input to give,’ he added.
Meanwhile, another vice-president, Shakhwat Hussain, was named as the chairman of the marketing and commercial committee.
Former national team captain Khaled Mashud would be heading the High Performance Committee, which works on the upcoming players, while former left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak would lead the Women’s Wing.
Singer Asif Akbar was made the chairman of the age group tournament committee. The finance committee would be chaired by M Nazmul Islam.
CCDM, the committee responsible for the Dhaka Premier and other leagues, will be chaired by Adnan.
Meanwhile, the National Sports Council withdrew the nomination of one of the directors, Isfak Ahsan.
According to the BCB constitution, the NSC can nominate two directors on the board. Isfak and Yasir Mohammad Faisal were announced as directors on Monday.
However, several posts started to circulate on social media that Isfak was involved in the politics of the Awami League, now a banned political party.
But the NSC or BCB didn’t confirm who would replace him while filing this report.
‘We don’t know yet. The only thing we know is that the letter they sent yesterday has been withdrawn again,’ Iftekhar said when he was asked about the development.
‘Now we are waiting for the new nomination. In today’s meeting, the president has appointed chairmen for all departments,’ he added.
Newly elected directors Razzak, Mashud, Shanian Tanim, and Amzad Hussain were also present at the press conference with Iftekhar after the first board meeting.
