
Prime Bank PLC on Tuesday launched Bangladesh’s first-ever SME debit card with international remittance facility, enabling small and medium enterprises to make seamless international online payments for business purposes.
The card can also be used locally for POS, ATM and online transactions. Proprietorship concerns can avail this debit card while SMEs registered as partnership or limited can avail SME prepaid cards, said a press release.
The launch follows a recent Bangladesh Bank-circular allowing SMEs to make international business payments online.
Bangladesh Bank SMESPD director Nawshad Mustafa was present as chief guest in the inaugural event held at Prime Tower, Nikunja in the capital on the day.
Bangladesh Bank SMESPD additional director Md Nazrul Islam, joint director Md Ayub Ali and Mastercard Bangladesh director Sohel Alim were also present.
Prime Bank deputy managing director M Nazeem A Choudhury presided over the event.
He said, ‘Prime Bank has always been at the forefront of empowering SMEs with innovative financial solutions. The SME Debit Card with international remittance capability marks another milestone in enabling Bangladeshi entrepreneurs to compete confidently in the global digital marketplace.’
Among others, Prime Bank distributions head Mamur Ahmed, SME head Mohammad Aminur Rahman and cards head Joarder Tanvir Faisal were present.
