BRAC, one of the country’s leading non-government organisations, on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding with SME Foundation to promote cooperation in creation of a database, financial inclusion, skill development, women’s entrepreneurship, product market linkage and SME cluster development, said a press release.
General manager Nazim Hasan Sattar signed the agreement on behalf of SME Foundation, while senior director Arinjoy Dhar represented BRAC at the signing ceremony held at the foundation’s office at Agargaon in the capital.
SME Foundation chairman Md Mushfiqur Rahman, managing director Anwar Hossain Chowdhury, general managers Mohammad Jahangir Hossain and Md Abdus Salam Sardar and BRAC associate director Amit Kanti Sarkar were present at the event.
Mushfiqur Rahman said that more than 11.8 million CMSME entrepreneurs existed in the country, with about 70 percent operating outside Dhaka.
Since the founda-tion does not have regional offices, various entrepreneur-ship development programmes are being implemented through local administrations, SME chambers associations and private organisations, he added.Â
‘With BRAC’s extensive network and strong presence across Bangladesh, it will be easier for the foundation to expand and implement entrepreneurship development initiatives nationwide,’ he added.
