Gono Odhikar Parishad general secretary Rashed Khan has called on the youth to take the lead in building a new Bangladesh.

There is no alternative to youth leadership if the country is to move forward with dignity and justice, he said.

He made the remarks while addressing a series of public meetings in different areas of Jhenaidah Sadar Upazila on Thursday evening.

Referring to the July mass uprising, Rashed Khan said it had opened the door to creating a new, self-reliant Bangladesh. ‘Young leaders must seize this opportunity to connect with the people at the grassroots level and spread the message of a self-respecting, sovereign nation,’ he said.

He stressed the importance of hearing the people’s voices in order to restore voting rights and uphold basic human rights. ‘The people’s aspirations must be the foundation of our politics,’ he added.

Rashed Khan also said that young leaders from Gono Odhikar Parishad are actively going door to door, listening to citizens’ concerns and presenting the party’s vision, principles, and goals.

He added people want to place their trust in young leadership because they’ve been let down for the past 16 years.

He reiterated his party’s commitment to fulfilling the dreams of the people, saying, ‘Those of us who led the July mass uprising will unite to establish a politics rooted in public aspirations-InshaAllah.’

Leaders of the Jhenaidah District Gono Odhikar Parishad were also present during the meetings.
