Director general of the Border Guard Bangladesh Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui on Wednesday said that the BGB was working to ensure that everyone can celebrate their respective religious festivals without any hindrance.

He made the remark after visiting the Dhakeshwari Temple and Ramna Kali Temple in the capital to inspect the overall security measures taken at the temples for peaceful and festive celebrations of the Durga Puja, said a press release.


‘Sharadiya Durga Puja is being held in a very beautiful and cordial atmosphere,’ he said, adding, ‘There is one more day left of this year’s Durga Puja. We hope it will be completed in a very beautiful and harmonious atmosphere with the collective efforts of everyone.’

He mentioned that in addition to the security of around 3,000 puja mandap along the border, the BGB was also responsible for the security of other major puja mandaps across the country, including Dhaka.

During the visits, the BGB DG extended greetings to the Hindus on the occasion of Durga Puja and exchanged views with president and members of the Sarbajanin Puja Udjapan Committee of Dhakeswari and Ramna Kali Temples.

Since September 24, 430 platoon members of BGB have been working to ensure the overall security of 2,870 puja mandaps by setting up 24 base camps in the border areas across the country, including the capital Dhaka.
