
The High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh Pranay Verma on Tuesday said that the relationship between Bangladesh and India is ‘unique and special’.
He made the remark while addressing the Durgashtami celebrations at the Dhakeshwari Temple in Dhaka on Tuesday, according to a press release.
Pranay was accompanied by his wife, and extending warm greetings to all attendees at the temple during the visit.
He said that the relationship between India and Bangladesh, a relationship rooted in shared history, geography, and the sacrifices of the Liberation War of 1971.
He stated that the cultural bonds between the two countries are older and deeper than national boundaries, strengthened by common traditions in language, literature, art, music, and festivals.
Referring to Durga Puja as a shared heritage, the High Commissioner said that
Durga Puja is not only a festival of devotion; it is also a celebration of culture, inclusivity, and compassion. It is an occasion when families come together, neighborhoods unite, and art and music flourish.
He said, ‘Durga Puja symbolizes the victory of good over evil, light over darkness, and hope over despair. We pray that this Durga Puja brings new hopes to us all and inspires us to build an even better future for our relations.’
On this occasion, the High Commissioner conveyed his warm greetings to the people of Bangladesh and extended his best wishes for peace, prosperity, harmony, and happiness to all.
