The Chattogram Port Authority and the Bangladesh Navy inked a Memorandum of Understanding to conduct joint hydrographic activities on Monday.
The agreement, signed in Chattogram, formalises a partnership for collaborative surveying, monitoring, and technical support in the vital Karnaphuli Navigational Channel and the sea area under the CPA鈥檚 jurisdiction, said a press release.聽
Officials stated that joint efforts in the recent expansion of the port鈥檚 area were crucial for a range of issues, including coastal ecosystem management, dredging operations, navigation safety, and overall coastal development.
Presiding over the ceremony as the chief guest, CPA chair Rear Admiral SM Moniruzzaman emphasised the practical goals of the agreement. He expressed his hope that the deal would not be limited to paper only but would actively prioritise national interests through the exchange of experience and technology between the two organisations.
The document was formally signed by the CPA member for harbour and marine on behalf of the port authority, and the chief hydrographer of the Bangladesh Navy Commodore Sheikh Firoz Ahmed.
