Evercare Hospital, the country’s JCI-accredited hospital, organised a special patient forum to mark World Heart Day 2025 in Dhaka on Monday.
Under the theme ‘do not miss a beat’, the event focused on raising awareness that every heartbeat matters, highlighting the importance of early detection, lifestyle changes and equal access to quality cardiac care so that no life was lost unnecessarily, said a press release.
The forum brought together a distinguished panel of cardiac specialists from Evercare Hospital Dhaka, representing various subspecialties within cardiology and cardiovascular care.
Dr Ratnadeep Chaskar, CEO and managing director; and Dr Arif Mahmud, group medical director of Evercare Hospitals, Bangladesh along with others, were present at the event.
The patient forum was attended by various patients and their relatives, and the doctors answered the queries of the patients regarding various problems and heart diseases.
During the discussion, cardiologists underscored the value of every heartbeat and urged awareness of symptoms such as chest pain and shortness of breath, or palpitations.
They emphasised that early detection through regular screenings can save lives and highlighted the importance of recognising risk factors such as hypertension, diabetes, obesity, smoking, and family history.
They also underscored that congenital heart diseases can be prevented by MMR vaccination 3 months before planned pregnancy, controlling diabetes mellitus, and hypertension and prohibiting the teratogenic medication during pregnancy.
Mentioning that awareness of fetal echocardiography is essential for the management of congenital heart diseases, they also emphasised on taking regular health screenings including follow up of diagnosed cardiac patients.
