
Thirteen leaders and activists of Awami League, including two former lawmakers, were arrested under the Anti-Terrorism Act from different parts of Dhaka in the last 24 hours.
Deputy commissioner for media and public relations Dhaka Metropolitan Police鈥檚 detective branch Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed the arrests.
The arrested include ex-lawmaker from Brahmanbaria-5 constituency Faizur Rahman Badal and ex-lawmaker from women鈥檚 reserved seat-324 Tamanna Nusrat Bubli.
A squad of detective branch from Motijheel division arrested Faizur Rahman Badal from Nikunja area under Khilkhet police station at around 10.20pm on Sunday.
DB-cyber division arrested the female lawmaker Bubli in a raid in Mohammadpur police station area on the same day.
A Dhaka court on Monday sent Badal to jail in a case filed over an attempted murder in the New Market area during the July uprising.
Metropolitan magistrate Mohammad Ehasnul Islam passed the order as police produced him before the court.
According to case details, the accused, along with members of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League, attacked protesters of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement on July 19, 2024.
Later, Sajib Uddin filed a case with New Market police station on February 4, 2025.
