
The government has announced a Hajj package of Tk 4.67 lakh for each pilgrim this year by reducing Tk 12,000 from airfare.
Adviser to the ministry of religious affairs AFM Khalid Hossain announced the new package at an inter-ministerial meeting at the ministry’s conference room in Dhaka on Sunday.
The adviser also announced two more Hajj packages on the occasion.
The cost for Special Hajj Package-1 is set at Tk 6,90,597, the Hajj Package-2 is estimated at Tk 5,58,881 and the Hajj package-3 is set at Tk 4,67,167.
Both the packages 1 and 2 offer transportation and quality accommodation, according to the ministry Hajj package schedule.
Besides, the government also prepared a Hajj Package for Hajj agencies pilgrims under private management and the cost is set at Tk 5,09,185 for each pilgrim.
The adviser said that Hajj was a two-state activity, so the Hajj activities were carried out under the management of the Royal Saudi Government and the sending countries.
He said that the Saudi government had the right in policy-making issues. Announcement of the Hajj roadmap, determination of necessary expenses on Saudi side were under the jurisdiction of the Saudi government.
He said that since the final cost of necessary expenses on Saudi side for the Hajj 2026 was yet to be confirmed, the package was prepared by calculating possible costs in line with the costs of the previous year.
‘If the Royal Saudi Government increases or decreases cost of any sector, then the package price will increase or decrease accordingly. Pilgrims will have to pay additional if the package price increases,’ the adviser said.
He said that if the package price decreased then surplus money would be refunded to pilgrims.
The Hajj is expected to be held on May 26 in 2026 depending on lunar calendar. Next year, 127,198 pilgrims will get the chance to perform the Hajj.
If everything gets well, then the first Hajj flight would commence on April 18, 2026.
According to official data, 87,100 pilgrims performed the Holy Hajj last year.
