The Bangladesh Cricket Board on Sunday announced a 16-member squad for the forthcoming three-match T20 International series against Afghanistan, scheduled to be held in Sharjah, UAE in October.
Jaker Ali will continue to lead the side in the absence of regular captain Liton Das, who suffered an injury during the Asia Cup.
‘He [Das] had missed the last two matches of the Asia Cup with a side strain. An MRI scan has revealed a grade 1 strain on the left abdominal muscle. He is undergoing recovery and will not be available for the T20 series,’ said national team physio Bayjedul Islam Khan in a BCB press release.
Bangladesh have made only one change from the Asia Cup lineup as Soumya Sarkar has been recalled into the side.Â
The 32-year-old left-hander last played in the format against the West Indies in December last year.
‘Batter Soumya Sarkar has been called up to the T20 squad for the Afghanistan series. The 32-year old left-hander is the only change to the squad which had played in the Asia Cup.’
The series will begin with the first match on October 2, followed by the second and third matches on October 3 and 5, respectively.
Bangladesh will also play an ODI series against the Afghans, however the schedule is yet to be announced.Â
