
Bangladesh suffered a 4-1 defeat to India on penalties, despite a dramatic stoppage-time equaliser in the final of the SAFF Under-17 Championship at the Racecourse International Stadium in Sri Lanka on Saturday.
Golam Rabbani Choton鈥檚 charges went 1-0 down in the fourth minute when Indian forward Dallalmuon Gangte tapped the ball from a goalmouth melee.
Bangladesh returned to the game with Md Manik heading home the ball in the 25th minute before Azlan Shah鈥檚 strike helped India regain the lead in the 38th minute.
Bangladesh were desperately looking for the equaliser in the second half, and their effort finally paid off in the dying moments of the injury time as Ihsan Habib Riduan struck on a loose ball into the net, pushing the match into penalties.
Bangladesh previously won this tournament titles in 2015 and 2018 while India lifted their seventh crown at this level since 2011.
Earlier Bangladesh beat Pakistan 2-0 in the semi-final after winning against Sri Lanka and Nepal by identical 4-0 margins in their Group A matches.
