
The authorities on Thursday published a circular regarding filling in the form for participating in the Junior Scholarship Examinations, 2025 for the students of the Class VIII after a gap of five years.
The examinations will be held between December 21 and 24 on five subjects while only the selected candidates will fill in the form online between October 13 and 19 to participate in the exams.
As part of holding the examinations, the education ministry has already published the routine and examination guidelines.
In 2010, the Awami League-led government, which was ousted in a mass uprising in the past year, introduced the Junior School Certificate examinations for students on completion of the Class VIII by replacing the junior scholarship exams.
The JSC exams were being held in participation of all Class VIII students while only selected students were being allowed to participate in the scholarship exams.
In 2020, the AL government stopped holding the JSC exams and the government has not held the exams since 2023 due to the implementation of a new national curriculum.
Following a decision of the interim government, which assumed office past year, the junior scholarship exams will be held this year.
As per the circular issued by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dhaka on Thursday, the board will issue a probable list of the candidates on its web site on October 12.
On December 21, the exam will be held on Bangla subject followed by English on December 22, mathematics on December 23 and both science and Bangladesh and global studies on December 24 from 10:00am to 1:00pm, as per the routine published by the Secondary and Higher Education Division under the ministry on Wednesday.
Each of the exams on science and Bangladesh and global studies will be held in one and a half hours.
Marks for Bangla, English and mathematics subjects are 100 each while marks for science and Bangladesh and global studies subjects are 50 each.
The scholarships will be given in two categories – talent pool and general. Boys and girls will get equal numbers of scholarships in both the categories.
Each candidate will have to pay Tk 400 as exam fee and after the final selection the candidates will have to pay Tk 200 each as exam centre fee. Â
