The police arrested a youth with counterfeit currency worth Taka 5.07 lakh in Khulna city early Wednesday.
The arrested, Md Abdullah alias Nayon, 30, is a resident of Bongobashi Road under Khalishpur in the city.
Based on secret information, a special team led by inspector Taimur Islam conducted a raid at Nayon鈥檚 home around 2:30am and recovered the counterfeit notes from his bedroom.
The police team also detained Nayon in this connection during the raid.
During primary interrogation, Nayon admitted that he had long been operating the illegal trade in Khulna and other parts of the country.
Additional deputy commissioner of Metropolitan Detective Police Nazmul Hasan Rajib said that Nayon was involved in fake currency trading since long.
聽A case was filed with the Khalishpur police in this connection, he said.
