A Sirajganj court on Monday sentenced a man, Sultan Mahmud, to life imprisonment on charges of raping a girl with disabilities at Kamarkhand in Sirajganj.
Judge Begum Salma Khatun of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Court-2 of Sirajganj handed down the verdict in the case, said public prosecutor Masudur Rahman Masud.
The court also fined Sultan Mahmud Tk 1 lakh in default to suffer three more months in prison.
According to the case, on February 8, 2020, Sultan Mahmod raped the 17-year-old girl at Paikosha under Kamarkhand in Sirajganj, while she was alone.
Three days after the incident, the girl鈥檚 father filed a rape complaint with the police station. After a long hearing, the judge finally announced the verdict.
