The Shahjalal University of Science and Technology administration on Monday withdrew on condition the ban on student politics on the campus.
It imposed the ban on November 6 past year.
The ban was withdrawn on condition that student organisations from now on will have to take permission from the university proctor to carry out any political activities on the campus.
The university issued a notification, signed by its registrar Syed Salim Md Abdul Qadir, in this connection.
The notification said that the ban on student politics was suspended based on recommendations made by leaders of student organisations in a views-exchange meeting with the SUST proctorial committee on August 18.
In the interest of maintaining law and order on the campus, political activities for the welfare of students can be conducted maintaining mutual respect and taking prior approval of the university proctor, the notice mentioned.
The notification also directed that meetings, gatherings and processions at the academic buildings, administrative buildings and residential halls of the university would remain prohibited as before.
It, however, stated that the programmes related to forming panel and introducing candidates in the forthcoming Shahjalal University Central Students’ Union elections could be organised with approval of the student hall administration concerned.
