
Bangladesh Meteorological Department on Monday issued signal number three for the country’s four maritime ports, as a low pressure area has formed over the North Bay of Bengal and adjacent area.
The ports are – Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra.
According to a warning message issued by the Met Office on Monday, under the influence of the low pressure area, deep convection is taking place over the North Bay.
Gusty or squally weather may affect the maritime ports, the North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh, it continued.
All fishing boats and trawlers over the North Bay have been advised to come close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.
The Met Office also issued another warning commencing at 3:00pm Monday, which would be valid till 1:00am on Tuesday.
It read that rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary south or south-easterly gusty or squally wind speeds of 45-60 kps are likely to occur over the regions of Dhaka, Cumilla and Noakhali, where inland river ports shall hoist cautionary signal no. 1.
