The liberation war affairs ministry on Tuesday said that anyone proved to have made false claims would be dropped from the official list of July martyrs and July fighters and legal action would be taken against them.
The ministry in a release said that it was committed to preparing an accurate list of July martyrs and July fighters.
The ministry is responsible for publishing official notifications and managing allowances and other benefits for the martyrs and fighters.
The release stated that several media outlets had recently published reports on 鈥榝ake July聽martyrs and July fighters,鈥� which called the ministry鈥檚 attention.
It said that the health ministry had sent a list of July martyrs and July fighters, enrolled in the management information system, to the liberation war affairs ministry and that list had already been officially notified.
It added that several false entries had already been detected and removed from the list after verification and notifications were made accordingly.
The ministry noted that this scrutiny was still under way.
The July Uprising Directorate is again verifying the individuals listed as fake martyrs and fighters by the media, the release said.
