
As part of international experience exchange and cooperation to further accelerate rural development activities at the grassroots level, Bangladesh Rural Development Board has recently held a meeting with the Japan International Cooperation Agency at the BRDB in Dhaka.
The meeting was chaired by BRDB director general Sarder Md Keramat Ali, said a press release on Monday.
The JICA delegation was led by Takeshi Ikeda. Ikeda informed that a JICA delegation visited the One Palli One Product: Product-based Livelihood Villages established in various upazilas of Gaibandha under the Gaibandha Integrated Poverty Alleviation Project implemented by BRDB in August 25-26.
He also appreciated the ongoing OPOP programme in Gaibandha and proposed to send Japanese volunteers to expand the programme.
Keramat Ali welcomed the proposal to send volunteers and highlighted BRDB initiative to expand One Palli One Product in line with Japan’s One Village One Product and in light of Gaibandha’s experience.
He said that a project in this regard is under consideration by the planning commission for approval. ‘In this regard, Japan’s experience and cooperation will play an effective role in expanding OPOP.’
