
The Research and Innovation Centre for Science and Engineering of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology and the GPH Ispat Limited have signed a memorandum of understanding with the aim of innovation protection, patent filing and new horizons in industry-academia connectivity.
The MoU was signed under the intellectual property management of BUET project initiated by RISE at the ECE building of the university in Dhaka on Sunday, said a press release.
BUET vice-chancellor Professor Abu Borhan Mohammad Badruzzaman was present as chief guest at the event.
Chairman of GPH Group and managing director of GPH Ispat Limited Mohammad Jahangir Alam was present as special guest while BUET pro-VC Professor Abdul Hasib Chowdhury was present as guest of honour at the event.
BUET VC said, ‘Through this, BUET’s research results will be able to have an impact on real life.’
He further mentioned that this collaboration with GPH Ispat was a reflection of BUET’s academic excellence being aligned with national development goals and global competitiveness.
Mohammad Jahangir Alam said that through this partnership, it would be possible to transform innovation and research into practical industrial solutions.
Professor Mohammad Shariful Islam, director of RISE and president of the event, mentioned that this project would connect all the deans, 18 departments and 8 institutes of BUET.
The MoU was signed by BUET RISE director Professor Mohammad Shariful Islam and Mohammad Jahangir Alam.
