A truck driver and his assistant were arrested along with 193 bottles of contraband drug Phensedyl in Sylhet on Friday.
The arrested are the truck driver Shubha Khan, 33, a resident of Subidpur Khanpara in Meherpur; and his helper Jamil Ahmed, 21, a resident of Uttar Kalibari under Companiganj in Sylhet.
Sylhet Metropolitan Police additional deputy commissioner for media Mohammad Saiful Islam said that acting on a tip-off, a team of Sylhet Biman Bandar police stopped a stone-loaded truck on Barshala Bypass Road in the airport area at around 12:30am and recovered the Phensedyl under the loaded-stones.
鈥楾he truck driver and his helper were also arrested after recovering the drug smuggled in the country from India,鈥� the police officer said.
He said that the arrested were produced before a metropolitan magistrate court in a case filed with the Biman Bandar police station. 鈥楾he court sent them to jail.鈥�
