The police have arrested two sibling brothers and another boy aged between 12 and 16 years for allegedly raping a four-year-old girl in Kaliganj upazila of Satkhira.
All the three are residents of Pirajpur slum area.
A local court on Friday sent them to jail.
According to the victim鈥檚 mother, the child went to play at a neighbour鈥檚 house in Pirajpur slum area on Thursday afternoon, where the three accused took her into a room and allegedly raped her.
Hearing the girl鈥檚 screams, the mother rushed to the house, but the boys escaped through the back door of the house.
The child, found in a bloodied condition, was first taken to the Kaliganj police station and then shifted to the local upazila health complex before being referred to Satkhira Sadar Hospital.
Abdul Wazed, a senior nurse at the Satkhira Sadar Hospital, said that the girl was admitted around 8:45pm on Thursday.
鈥楽he was bleeding. The child鈥檚 condition is serious,鈥� he added. The victim鈥檚 family alleged that influential locals attempted to protect the accused and threatened them against speaking out.
Kaliganj police officer-in-charge Mizanur Rahman said that legal proceedings were underway.聽
