The chief adviser’s press secretary Shafiqul Alam on Friday reaffirmed that the Jatiya Sangsad elections would be held on time and there was no possibility of postponing the polls.
‘The upcoming Jatiya Sangsad elections will be held by February 15, 2026 as per the schedule decided by the interim government, despite differing views among political parties,’ he said.
The press secretary made the remarks while speaking to reporters during a visit to the Railway Project in Majhail village in Magura and the ancestral home of poet Farrukh Ahmed, widely known as the ‘Poet of the Muslim Renaissance’.
He also said that the upcoming national elections would be as peaceful and acceptable as the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union polls.
‘The next national elections will be peaceful and participatory, where people will cast their votes spontaneously,’ he said, adding that the government was firmly committed to hold the polls on schedule.
Asserting that no force in the country can obstruct this election, he said that talks were going on with all political parties and the elections would be held on the basis of national consensus.
‘The elections will not only determine the future of governance but will also lay the groundwork for subsequent elections and the overall political system of Bangladesh,’ he said.
