A man was killed and another injured in an early Tuesday clash between two rival groups over establishing supremacy in a Raipura village in Narsingdi.聽

Deceased Dulal Mia, 45, was a farmer in Samibad village of Charmadhua union of Raipura upazila, while the injured was 14-year-old student Nahim Mia from the same upazila.聽


According to local people, there had long been rivalry between former union parishad member Khoka Alam and a local named Zakir Mia over establishing supremacy in Samibad.

Charamdhua union parishad chairman Ahsan Sikder said that the supporters of Zakir Mia wielding arms attacked Khoka鈥檚 house and opened fire, leaving Dulal, a supporter of Khoka, and Nahim injured.

The two injured were brought to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where Dulal was declared dead.

Injured Nahim, a class VIII student, was undergoing treatment at the hospital, said Ahsan Sikder on Tuesday afternoon.

They also vandalised around 10 houses belonging to Khoka鈥檚 supporters, the UP chairman said.

Narsingdi additional superintendent of police for crime Sujan Chandra Sarkar confirmed that the clash left two injured, one of whom, named Dulal, died.

He said that the situation was under control as additional police personnel were deployed in the area.

No one was arrested in the incident, he also said.
