A train passenger on Thursday filed a case against four policemen, including the in-charge of the Shaistaganj railway police outpost in Habiganj, and three other individuals, allegedly for harassing him at Shayestaganj Railway Station at midnight past August 19.

Mashiur Rahman Jewel of Boro Bahula village under Sadar upazila in Habiganj filed the case with the Speedy Trial Tribunal of Habiganj under the Speedy Trial Tribunal Act in the morning, court officials said.


The plaintiff is also a process server at the Habiganj chief judicial magistrate court.

Mashiur鈥檚 counsel MA Majid said that the Speedy Trial Tribunal judge, Md Kamrul Hasan, took the case into cognizance and ordered the police to submit a report after an investigation.

He said that the other accused in the case are Shaistaganj railway police outpost鈥檚 town sub-inspector Shahjalal, nayek Ariful, and constable Robi Das, and Raju Miah and Shah Alam of Mahlul Sunam village of Shaistaganj Municipality and Palash Miah of Shaistaganj Railway Colony.

According to the case statement, Mashiur went to Shayestaganj Railway Station at midnight past August 19 to go to Dhaka.

The Dhaka-bound intercity train Upaban Express was supposed to arrive at the station at 1:00am on August 20 from Sylhet, but it was delayed.

At that time, some people harassed Mashiur and snatched away his moneybag and mobile phone at platform number 2, the plaintiff alleged.

Hearing screaming, the railway police personnel came forward and beat Mashiur after taking him to the police outpost. The police also tried to trap him for carrying cannabis and yaba.

Later, a video record in this regard went viral on social media, according to the case statement.听
