Activists of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League, the student wing of Bangladesh Awami League, brought out a flash procession in Dhaka city’s Banani area on Tuesday.

Confirming the matter, Banani police officer-in-charge Rasel Sarwar said that more than 50 BCL activists brought out a procession near the Bangladesh Army Stadium at about 6:45pm.

‘Local people informed the police but they had left the scene before the police reached there. The procession lasted few minutes,’ he said.

The officer also said that the police filed a case against unidentified people in the incident.

The protesters might have come from other areas, he said, adding that however, an investigation was going on to identify the protesters, he added.

Earlier on Sunday evening also, some BCL activists staged a procession in Dhanmondi area.

On October 23 past year, the interim government banned the BCL under the Anti-Terrorism Act on allegation of its involvement in breaching public security in various ways in the past 15 years.

In May this year, the government banned all activities of Awami League until trial of its leaders and activists for allegedly perpetrating atrocities in the July uprising, which led to the ouster of the AL regime on August 5, 2024.
