KONA Software Lab Limited, a payment and security solutions company, has announced successful implementation of its Kona Card Personalisation System or K-CPS for Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC, said a press release.
This global platform-compliant EMV card personalisation system will enable Islami Bank, the first client of K-CPS, to issue EMV debit, credit and prepaid cards for TakaPay as well as global schemes such as Visa, Mastercard and UnionPay International.
Representatives of the Bangladesh Bank, Islami Bank and leading industry stakeholders joined the celebration at an event at The InterContinental Dhaka on August 28.
‘With K-CPS, KONA Software Lab Limited has proven that Bangladesh is no longer just a consumer of foreign technology, but a provider of world-class solutions with fully local innovation and support. This will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of digital payments in the country,’ said KONA SL chief business officer Siraj Siddiquey.
Congratulating KONA SL, Islami Bank and other stakeholders for working together to bring to life Bangladesh’s first CPS, Bangladesh Bank executive director Arief Hossain Khan said, ‘This achievement has given us new hope and laid a strong foundation on our path to building a cashless Bangladesh.’
Islami Bank executive vice-president and digital banking wing head Md Mosharraf Hossain highlighted their experience of the solution provided by KONA SL.
Building on this milestone, KONA SL is preparing to establish a card manufacturing factory and a personalisation bureau. It is also likely to launch its own card management system and scheme certified tokenisation service, the release said.
