A youth was beaten to death following a trifling matter at Rajfulbaria Bazar area of Tetuljhora under Savar in Dhaka on Wednesday night.
The deceased was Bimal Rajbongshi, 24, a resident of the area.
Police recovered the body on Thursday and sent it to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
According to the police, an altercation broke out around 10:00pm between Bimal Rajbongshi and his neighbour Narayan Rajbongshi over a trivial matter.
At one stage, Narayan allegedly attacked Bimal and beat him to death.
When two others鈥擲hilpi Rani and Ushanto Rajbongshi鈥攖ried to intervene, they were also assaulted and sustained injuries.
Narayan fled the scene immediately after the incident, while the two injured victims are receiving treatment, according to police.
Savar model police station officer-in-charge Jewel Mia said that efforts were underway to arrest the accused and a murder case would be filed in this connection.
