
Chief of army staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman returned home Wednesday night after an official visit to China.
During the visit, he made courtesy calls on high-ranking Chinese military and civilian officials, including Political Commissar General Chen Hui of the People’s Liberation Army Ground Forces, and discussed various issues of bilateral interest, said an ISPR press release on Thursday.
During the meeting, they discussed strategic cooperation between the two countries, people-to-people communication, and assistance in the return of forcibly displaced Myanmar citizens.
In addition, the issue of securing China’s assistance for the development of Bangladesh’s military industry was discussed.
On August 22, the army chief was accorded a ‘Guard of Honour’ upon his arrival at the PLA headquarters.
The army chief paid a courtesy call on Chen Defang, president of China’s NORINCO Group, on August 23.
During the meeting, they discussed various issues related to the interests of the Bangladesh Army.
The meeting also discussed the upgrading and maintenance of various military equipment of the NORINCO Group currently in use by the Bangladesh Army.
In addition, General Waker visited the training facilities of the Beijing campus of the PLA’s Academy of Armoured Forces, including various military equipment production laboratories.

Besides, the army chief visited various factories and research centres of the NORINCO Group located in Beijing and Xiang, China Aerospace Long-March International Co Ltd, and Aisheng UAV Factory, along with other modern weapons and ammunition manufacturing factories.
The Army Chief went to China on August 20 on an official visit.
