The Bangladesh Semiconductor Industry Association (BSIA) says the country鈥檚 semiconductor sector is emerging as a major source of jobs for the rising number of Computer Science and Electrical and Electronics Engineering graduates.

BSIA president MA Jabbar said this on Tuesday while holding a meeting with commerce adviser Sk Bashir Uddin at his office at the ministry of commerce.


The other members of the delegation who were present during the meeting are senior vice president ME Chowdhury Shameem, directors Kamrul Ahsan Dewanjee, Munir Ahmed and Ashiqur Rahman Tanim along with Senior Adviser Enayetur Rahman.

During the meeting, the BSIA president highlighted the current status of this highly potential semiconductor sector, the various challenges, and possible measures to overcome them, said a press release on Wednesday.

By 2030, the sector is expected to reach 1.3 trillion USD and will require 1 million skilled professionals worldwide by that time.

Commerce adviser Sk Bashir Uddin encouraged the formulation of a realistic and comprehensive plan aimed at the sector鈥檚 visible development and creating job opportunities for the youth.

He also assured full policy support from the government to strengthen the semiconductor ecosystem in Bangladesh.
