Additional deputy commissioner of police Md Shafiqul Islam has been appointed as the chief of the Detective Branch of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
An office order signed by DMP commissioner SM Sazzat Ali was issued in this connection on Wednesday.
Shafiqul is a member of the Bangladesh Civil Service 18th batch.
Immediately before, he worked at the Highway Police as deputy inspector general of police.
Before Shafiqul鈥檚 posting as the DMP DB chief, the post had remained vacant for several months, as its immediate past chief DMP additional commissioner Rezaul Karim Mallick was transferred following controversy over the detention of model Meghna Alam from her home on April 10.
Rezaul was later posted as deputy inspector general of Dhaka Range Police.
