Theatre troupe Bibartan Dhaka’s child wing have staged Rabindranath Tagore’s ‘Rother Roshi’ at the studio theatre hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
The play, directed by Saif Mandal, was staged on Friday.
The theme of ‘Rother Roshi’ revolves around the theme of unity to build a civilisation free from exploitation.
The play is based on an ancient Hindu religious festival ‘Rath Jatra’ (travel of the chariot) in which the chariot is drawn by people participating in the celebration, showing that it was the strength and participation of the people that moves the wheels of the chariot. In the play, when a group of workers come and drag the ropes, the chariot starts to move.
With symbols and metaphors, the play depicts everyone’s contribution to the building of society.
Audri, Nowshin, Arotina, Jhill, Swapnil, Syaon, Shreayan and Barna, among others, performed in the play. Ìý Ìý Ìý
