Rukunuddhoulah

Award winning journalist Rukunuddhoulah passed away at the age of 69.

He breathed his last at the Coronary Care Unit at Jashore General Hospital at around 7:35pm on Friday.


Rukunuddhoulah, a freedom fighter, and writer of several books, including ‘Amar Koishor Amar Mukitjuddha’ (my childhood and my War of Independence), Choto Choto Katha Achena Manush (trivial words and unknown people), was a winner of  IDE Award, Bazlur Rahman Smriti Purashkar, among others.

He worked for Dainik Sangbad as a special correspondent. Rukunuddhoulah returned to his Jashore residence after undergoing cardiac operation at Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital in Dhaka on August 19.

He was rushed to Jashore General Hospital as he fell sick on Friday afternoon and died there.

He is survived by his wife and a daughter.

He was buried at Jashore Karbala graveyard following Namaz-e-janaza at the central Eidgah after Juhr prayers on Saturday.

Aninda Islam Amit, acting organising secretary of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, ASM Kabir, director, Press Information Department, and leaders and different political parties, socio-cultural organisations, a representative of Jashore University of Science and Technology vice chancellor Professor Abdul Majid attended his Namaz-e-janaza.
