National Citizen Party convener Nahid Islam on Friday went to Malaysia for a three-day visit at the invitation of the Malaysia chapter of NCP Diaspora Alliance.
Upon his arrival at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Nahid was warmly welcomed and greeted with flowers by the NCP Diaspora Alliance Malaysia, said a party press release.
Nahid is scheduled to return to Dhaka on August 24.
After a two-day break, a delegation of the NCP, led by Nahid Islam, is set to travel to China on August 26 on a six-day visit at the invitation of the Chinese government, said a leader of the party.
During the three-day visit to Malaysia, Nahid will engage in discussions and attend dinners with expatriate Bangladeshis, representatives of social and political organisations, journalists, human rights activists, and professionals from various fields.
He is also scheduled to hold a courtesy meeting with officials from the Bangladesh High Commission in Malaysia.
He will also participate in a public event where he will exchange views with political leaders residing in Malaysia, participants of the July uprising, and students.
During this trip, he will discuss how expatriates can be more actively involved in nation-building during the post-mass uprising period.
Meanwhile, as part of the preparation for the visit to China, Chinese ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen held a meeting with NCP’s top leaders in Dhaka on Thursday, said a NCP leader.
He also said that the eight-member NCP delegation, including Nahid Islam and party member secretary Akhtar Hossain, will begin its China visit on August 26 and return to Dhaka on August 31.
‘Our tour will focus on political discussions as well as cultural exchanges,’ said the NCP leader.
He said that the NCP delegation would also visit Europe in the next month.
