The three-day Bangla Med Expo 2025 was inaugurated on Thursday at the International Convention City Bashundhara of the capital, positioning itself as one of South Asia’s leading platforms for showcasing the latest medical equipment and healthcare innovations.
Organised by Extreme Exhibition and Event Solution Limited, the event brought together more than 120 exhibitors, representing over 400 brands from more than 10 countries, including Bangladesh, China, India, Pakistan, Taiwan, Switzerland, and others, according to a press release.
The expo, open to all, is expected to draw over 6,500 trade visitors, including healthcare professionals, importers, and industry stakeholders. The Bangla Med Expo 2025 will run till August 23 at ICCB.
This year’s edition features a comprehensive range of products — from syringes, surgical gloves, masks, and needles to advanced diagnostic imaging devices, physiotherapy solutions, and state-of-the-art hospital infrastructure technology.
Exhibitors are grouped into nine major categories: medical equipment and devices, disposables and consumables, orthopaedics and physiotherapy, imaging and diagnostics, healthcare services, IT systems, infrastructure and assets, as well as wellness and prevention.
According to the press release, Bangladesh’s medical equipment and devices market has been expanding rapidly.
Valued at $442 million in 2020, it is projected to exceed $820 million by the end of 2025 and surpass $3 billion by 2030, fuelled by demographic shifts and the swift expansion of healthcare facilities.
Currently, India and China account for 25 per cent to 30 per cent of Bangladesh’s imports of medical devices and consumables, while Germany and the US supply 10 per cent to 15 per cent.
Taiwan and Pakistan maintain smaller shares, each under 3 per in most categories.
Among the notable exhibitors, there are Monir Neuro Spine Surgical Mart (Bangladesh), Brown Group and Soft Imaging (India), Aaymed (Pakistan), and Rossmax (Switzerland).
The expo also serves as an educational platform for young professionals. Visitors were also exploring new ventures.
Since its inception, Bangla Med Expo has helped brands enter the Bangladeshi market and contributed to the transformation of the country’s healthcare sector.
The organisers emphasised that the platform is not only about trade but also about supporting Bangladesh’s broader progress in healthcare, ranging from reducing communicable diseases to improving maternal health and immunisation coverage.
